A recent research conducted in 2025 by competent researchers In a journal titled " High income groups disproportionately contribute to climate extremes worldwide" come to a conclusion that the world's Wealthiest 10% caused two thirds of global warming since 1990. The result of which the world is experiencing extreme climate conditions such as droughts and heat waves. Wealthy individuals have a higher carbon footprint, meaning they consume more, spend more and use more energy than an average poor person. The research found out that 1% of the Wealthiest individuals globally contributed 26 times the global average. The research found that emissions from the United States and China alone, led to a two to three fold increases in extreme weather events across vulnerable regions like the Amazon, Southeast Asia and Southern Africa.
